What you need to know for your visit in Prettau
Reservation necessary! Same-day reservations are only possible by phone. Online bookings can be made up to the day before.
Please come to the location at least 20 minutes prior to your booked time slot.
Entry into the mine is not recommended for those suffering of circulatory problems and/or claustrophobia.
We recommend the guided tours for ages 3 and up.

Clothing: We recommend warm clothes and sturdy footwear. Rain coats and helmets will be provided by the museum.
Accessibility: The external area and the Climate gallery are barrier-free. The "Gallery Adventure" guided tour is partially barrier-free. Wheelchairs are available if required that will permit access to part of the show gallery.

Dogs in the Museum: Dogs are permitted in the outdoor area, but not in the galleries.
Museum shop: Our shop sells a wide range of minerals, jewellery made from minerals and mining souvenirs. As part of our sustainability project "One.Four.Seventeen.", many of the produfcts are made of sustainable material. Our expert sales staff will be pleased to help you.
Eating & drinking: The Restaurant Ignazstube in the Museum area is open during the Museum season. You are welcome to visit even if not visiting the Museum.
Getting here
Rail/bus: Take the train to Bruneck/Brunico then, from Bruneck/Brunico railway or bus station take bus no. 450 for the Ahrntal Valley to Prettau. Get off at the second to last stop (Bergwerk) by the Museum car park. Connections every 30 minutes.
Bike: From Bruneck take the cycle way to Sand in Taufers, then follow the SS621 to Prettau.
By car: From the A22 autobahn take the Brixen/Bressanone exit, then follow the E66 towards Bruneck/Brunico, exit at Bruneck/Brunico North and from there take the SS621 towards Ahrntal/Valle Aurina to Prettau, Hörmanngasse 38/A. Free car and coach parking is available by the Museum entrance area.
Plane: The nearest airports are Innsbruck (140 km) and Verona (260 km).
