Mission Statement
The mission of our museum
The South Tyrol Mining Museum preserves, researches and conveys the cultural heritage of mining in the Alpine region, with a particular focus on South Tyrol. We highlight how closely human life has been and continues to be connected with natural resources and landscapes, and we create opportunities to understand these relationships in the present day.
We aim to spark curiosity and inspire people. Our visitors are invited not only to explore the world of mining, but also to develop their own questions, ideas and reflections. Education, research and cultural exchange are at the heart of our work. We create analogue and digital spaces of experience that bring knowledge to life and embrace diverse perspectives.
As a public institution, we collect tangible and intangible cultural assets related to mining and make them accessible in a responsible way. Openness, participation and scientific integrity guide our actions. We promote diversity, inclusion and accessibility so that as many people as possible can engage with this cultural heritage.
We see ourselves as a place of dialogue where historical developments, current issues and future challenges meet and inspire new insights.
