Mining and Bobbin Lace

In the 19th century, mining throughout Europe fell into crisis. The decline also began for the copper mine in Prettau. In 1893/94 the mine had to be closed. People looked for economic alternatives and found them in arts and crafts, among other things. In many areas, the production of lace using the bobbin lace technique was pursued.
