Since the last hammer blows and machines in the mountain have fallen silent, the memory of the local mining tradition has faded more and more. The work underground was and is dangerous, exhausting and adventurous. It required strength, endurance, skill and, last but not least, fearlessness. Generations of men, women and children have faced these challenges. The miners' games, organized by the South Tyrol Mining Museum in Ridnaun, are dedicated to them.
